KABUL, Afghanistan (Nov. 9) – An International Security Assistance Force service member died as a result of a non-battle related injury in southern Afghanistan today.

It is ISAF policy to defer casualty identification procedures to the relevant national authorities.

ISAF Joint Command morning operational update

KABUL, Afghanistan (Nov. 9) – An Afghan and coalition security force arrested a Haqqani facilitator in Khost province today.

The arrested facilitator is suspected of coordinating the delivery of weapons, improvised explosive device materials and fighters to leadership operating throughout western Khost province.

As a result of the operation, the security force also detained two suspected insurgents and seized homemade explosives, IED-making materials, several grenades, a large quantity of firearms with associated gear and ammunition, and numerous bayonets.

ISAF Joint Command morning operational update

KABUL, Afghanistan (Nov. 8) – An Afghan and coalition security force arrested a Taliban leader in Logar province today.

The arrested leader was believed to be behind planning for indirect fire attacks on Afghan and coalition forces and led several indirect fire attacks on Forward Operating Base Shank in the province.

The security force also detained two suspected insurgents.

MULTINATIONAL BASE TARIN KOWT, Afghanistan — Australian Forces, here, recognized the actions of a medical evacuation crew from Company C, 3rd Battalion, 25th Aviation Regiment, Task Force Gunfighters, 25th Combat Aviation Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, during an awards ceremony, Oct. 18.

Chief of Joint Operations Australia, Lt. Gen. Ash Power, AO, CSC, presented the crew with the Chief of Joint Operations Gold Commendation for their actions during a medevac request in the Uruzgan Province, Aug. 23.

RC(SW) Press Release: Tanks disrupt enemy activity in known insurgent hotbed

COMBAT OUTPOST SHIR GHAZAY, Afghanistan - During a time when insurgents typically bed down for the winter, Marines and coalition forces engaged multiple enemy forces during Operation Helmand Viper, Oct. 19 through 27.

Tanks with Bravo Company, 2nd Tank Battalion, Regimental Combat Team 7, led the support mission for special operations forces. The operation's focus was to find and destroy weapons caches, improvised explosive devices and drug producing facilities. Coalition forces localized their efforts to Zamindawar, a known insurgent hotbed between Musa Qal'ah and Kajaki.

Marines with Bravo Co., 2nd Tank Bn., along with various supporting units, convoyed through the night and were prepared to attack by first light, Oct. 19. By the time the sun had risen to a chilly Afghan morning, the assault was under way. Throughout the next eight days, Marines provided sustaining firepower and resupply missions for the special forces.
